You clearly don't understand what is "worse by church standards". When I was at BYU (early 90s) President Packer gave a devotional where he specifically talked about this. he talked about co-eds look down their noses at a guy who would smoke or drink a little and would never date such a person, but seem to think that heavy petting and other moral sins are not that big of a deal. he said that smoking and drinking are pretty minor and that heavy petting is pretty major.

So 1 - we don't look at all like massive hypocrites - that is just ridiculous and 2 - Theft and porn are much worse than having a beer.
