RE: I know for a fact that this post is hogwash.
Jake72 you have been pressured by the Porter Gustin clan to pull the truth. It isnt the first time the truth and our "freedom of opinion" has been forcefully required to be removed or "there will be consequences" You arent the only one that Porter's cousin, James, has talked to about the Urban Meyer experience. The same story that you posted has been shared with multiple people from James mouth, who by the way was there the entire time. The family is upset with this younger cousin who is sharing his perception of how the Urban Meyer visit went with Porter. The family 'controls' the PR, legal problems and community with their bully type personalities. This family has moved into Salem, caused lots of trouble and the people in Salem are being polite and keeping their mouths shut. The Gustins werent getting the attention in their small Idaho town so they moved to Salem his Junior year. There are real ethical reasons why BYU hasnt offered him anything and part of it is the family that will come with him. They are already grooming his younger cousin James to be the next superstar. As students, families and community members we are tired of this circus, tired of keeping our mouths shut to protect our own families and community and we hope that the family will move on with him. As a fellow student, community family and observer I can vouch that there are major problems with this situation, I see and hear things first hand. I have a friend that will never be the same again because of what happened to them personally at the direction and hands of Porter. There are many 'victims" of this family. Porter is an amazing athlete-no question. Its all the drama that comes with the family-the aunt who writes all of the newspaper articles, the aunt who takes all of the professional pictures, the legal team that keeps his record clean while his buddies take all of the heat, the Dad who hovers over every coach and puts extreme pressure on them and the community and school is tired, frustrated and trying to follow BYU's classy way of handling the situation. Jake72 thank you for trying...
