but aren't the attorneys that would be involved in trying to swing these deals not necessarily from mormon headquarters, but rather just good hired guns that prob happen to be mormon?

What you did in DC is the EXACT type of mormon collegues I've had that are the most successful as they strike a balance and aren't ostracized as non team players.
