It's pretty simple, right? We played hardball with the Big East because they were a bad P5 conference on the verge of

becoming a G5 conference. If you have a substantially better gig working for yourself than for the crappy little shop down the street, you negotiate harder. Now when a job comes along that's better than working for yourself, you appreciate who has the bargaining power. It's all about relative bargaining power. I'm glad we were difficult with the Big East. That would have been a disaster.
