I have a friend who was a non-member. He felt the same way as you. However,
he later converted and found that mormons are very wrapped up in their religion. It involves fulfilling their calling, studying lessons, family time etc.

He discovered they weren't trying to be anti-social, they just were because they have a lot on their plate because of the church.

Sometime, they just needed some down time.
