I agree and disagree.
I'm okay with land in federal hands. I just don't think that massive swaths should be in national monuments.

Designation of million+ acre areas as NMs is inconsistent with the intent of the act. I wish the designation would sunset in five years or something and let Congress help decide how large an area, if any, should be a bona fide NP.

NM designation starts to impact historical recreational uses over time. Hunting is definitely going to feel that squeeze before almost anyone else. In a place like Grand Staircase or Bears Ears it starts out slow, banning hunting in this or that area for any number of reasons until there's a designated hunting zone the size of a postage stamp.

It's tough as a sportsman anywhere. Some parties want to sell off land to private interests. Some parties want to restrict your public land use so substantially that it might as well be sold off. In either case I lose.
