Fair point, but note that the lands were seized from the LDS church, and not
from the state of Utah, or even from the citizens of the state. If they were ever to be returned to their former owners, they would revert to the Church, and not to the state of Utah.

But in any case, I believe the Church long ago dropped any claim those lands, as part of the deal that granted statehood to Utah.

And further, once you start down that slippery slope, the Federal government seized from Mexico most of what is now Utah before it seized anything from the LDS church. Mexico's claim to those lands is probably just as valid as the Church's, in many cases.
