what was then Rick's College (in the late 70's). I was a good enough wrestler that I likely could have gotten a scholarship somewhere had I gone to my Sr year of HS.

So as a 17 year-old I walked on to the wrestling team at Ricks. What an eye opener. I went from being top 3 in state to 7th place on an 8 man depth chart. Very sobering. Not only that but the physical brutality that my teammates were willing to dish out really surprised me. They became the best by being extremely aggressive. It didn't help that the #1 guy was a 23 year-old RM. I probably had the physical skills to compete over the long term, but not the passion.

Bottom line, the jump from HS to JC absolutely amazed me.
