Just heard the interview. We've always known it's tough to get into BYU because of academics whether you're an athlete or not. But I didn't know it's easier to get into the PAC-12 schools academically than it is to BYU.
Harmon talked about the many obstacles BYU has in recruiting to football and basketball. Even not considering the HC, an athlete has an easier time getting into UCLA or Cal or some other PAC-12 school academically. Harmon said there are thousands of other students with 4.0's and sky high test scores waiting to get into BYU so we can't give special breaks to athletes.
It's probably harder to recruit to BYU than any other D1 school in college sports. The success BYU has had in football and basketball and the olympic sports reflected in the Davis Cup is nothing short of amazing.
