The NCAA even banned BYU coursework for eligibility because it was too easy
From the DesNews regarding the Blindside story:

According to the bestselling book, Oher replaced several F's in high school English by taking BYU "Character Education" courses that merely required Oher to "read a few brief passages from famous works ... and then answer five questions about it." Lewis dubbed the process "the great Mormon grade-grab."

The NCAA actually acted to prevent athlete-focused BYU coursework from being counted toward eligibility because kids across the country were using it for easy grades. BYU courses were formally deemed by the NCAA to not be rigorous enough for college athletes. The NCAA ruling applies to both HS makeup courses and college credit courses offered by BYU.
