Admission rate tells almost nothing.
When BYU tells applicants the expectations and average scores for admission, the vast majority of BYU hopefuls self select against applying. BYU rejects most applicants that thiight they have a chance.

BYU is very selective. How many schools will accept a kid with a 29 ACT, and 3.8 GPA with a job and extra carriculars? That is about the true low end for BYU last I heard. A higher ACT means more than the GPA, but a 3.6 would likely be impossible to overcome. I base this not on my son and other kids I know who were rejected.
