Actually, pretty much everybody agrees that Michigan and Ohio State would be
much more prestigious if they dropped their enrollment down to 30,000 students. But as public universities, they have an obligation to educate as many students as possible for the good of society in their respective states, so they can't keep admission numbers low like the Ivy League schools do.

But there have definitely been concerns from alumni about the ever-increasing enrollment that is slowly taking prestige out of their undergraduate degrees.
