That is a meaningless statistic for BYU. Big school with a very limited pool of
applicants. The requirements are much higher than other schools for GPA, but actually a little lower for ACT...not sure why. Given the GPA the ACT scores really should be about 32. For some reason there is a gap in the ACT for LDS kids.

When I was on one of the acceptance committees they flat out said they could raise the admissions requirements to a 4.0 and still have kids to turn away. It isn't about the school becoming more demanding, it is about the small pool of applicants becoming the cream of the crop. Every year there is a growing number of LDS HS Seniors and the vast majority want to come to BYU...just can't happen.

Rumor has it they could add 20K more students and the entrance requirements could still be at 3.75 and a 30

BYU-I fills the gap for the rest of the kids, or local schools.
