especially in places like message boards, doesn’t necessarily hold the majority view.
After leaving a BYU/Stanford game in Provo a while back, I walked to my car behind the brother of a Stanford OL who was a church member from Provo. He chose Stanford over BYU.
I was close enough that I would have had to work to avoid eavesdropping on the conversation ahead of me. The guy said his brother loved LaVell and that LaVell told him he couldn’t go wrong with either scholarship offer and then later sincerely wished him well when he told LaVell he was going to Stanford.
I do bristle at the notion that an offer from Stanford is an obvious choice in the other direction. IMO, BYU has more to offer than some of our fans allow for. But I also don’t think we should hold it against people who choose to go elsewhere.
