viewing someone differently if they choose to go to another school. Its just the way it is. And its obvious that to achieve hero status amongst the lds byu crowd that going to BYU really really helps your cause. If an athlete truly values that kind of love from lds byu fans then he may want to strongly consider going to BYU. But what they shouldn't do is go elsewhere and expect to get the same love. How often are we talking about Jabari Parker these days? It would be so different if he came to BYU for me. But obviously he can care less about what I think. Its his prerogative. Hopefully he doesn't lose any sleep at night over how he disappointed a bunch of byu fans. Is he less of a latter day saint because he went to duke? Of course not. But did he disappoint me with his decision? Of course he did. I'm a byu fan.
