when the head coach specifically says how many millions of mormons and LDS leadership you are letting down I would call it shaming. (literally used those words to describe his decision publicly the HC was in Seattle at the time he said it and it was wildfire for those close)  It was pre-internet so you could obviously get away with a lot more and this coach was old enough to really not be concerened with a national news cycle... but B/c of the hoopla around this kid those quotes were published in the local paper as well as on sports talk radio.  it also pushed him away from his church in which at the time he was a weekly church goer. I'd call that "shaming" for not choosing BYU.  Luckily BYU fired the coach for the comments and he left a dumpster fire behind. I know i've given away all of the details here of who is who, but I assume nobody is reading this reply to you and I'd appreciate if you know who it is not to roof top it as I don't want to upset anyone who was close and involved as well. He made a bball decision for his future career and he was paid well for a full decade of NBA play. what the HC did was inexcusible and made many in my area that didn't like BYU per say or indifferent, really hate BYU.
