are going to neither BYU NOR Utah. Top in-state athletes are leaving altogether. The state has had programs like USC in house for a long time. They've had programs like OSU and Michigan for quite a while. And now they've got programs like Bama coming in. Top LDS athletes in Utah, in California, wherever they are... They're not choosing either program. You don't see the very top notch guys choosing Utah. They're spurning Utah and going to USC instead. Or wherever it is.
And fans still throw a fit that they're leaving the state, or not going to their "church" school. Blah blah. These kids owe BYU nothing through religion.
But it's not really anything that is the fault of BYU or Utah. It's hard to compete against 5 star programs coming in and wanting all of the best. And people need to stop making a fuss about it. It's not Ika's fault he's not going to BYU. It's not BYU's fault. BYU fans chose to be BYU fans and this is what we have to deal with. Bigger and better programs... And Utah has to deal with this as well because they're never going to be those programs.
