It's the Toledo, NIU, ECU, and Umass type games that are causing this. These types of teams have always been on our schedule, and we've historically beat them at a high rate. We're struggling to win these games under Sitake.
Also, BYU right now has more resources than at any time ever in the history of the football program. BYU doesn't break down their recruiting budget by program, but they do report the amounts spent on men's programs vs women's programs. In 2003, BYU spent $217,000 on recruiting expenses for its men's programs. In 2010, it was 468,000.
The last two years are the most we've ever spent on recruiting, and we averaged spending $952,000 for recruiting expenses. The claim of shrinking resources to support the team is just not factually accurate.
