Here's your list of things you cited:

# low coaches salary We've always had lower coaches pay than most schools.  Bronco took a huge pay raise when he left and went to VA.  This is nothing new to BYU.

# LDS coaching restrictions. We've always had at least the unwritten rule that the HC has to be LDS.  Nothing new here in 2019

# Recruits have to meet the high level of academic admission standards.  BYU was as academically stringent in the 1980s, but it was well on its way there by the mid 1990s.  By the end of the Edwards era, BYU had pushed its admission standards significantly and was well on its way to becoming this highly difficult and competitive university.  Crowton, Bronco, and Sitake have all had to deal with this type of environment at BYU.

# lower recruiting budgets. This is just not true.  We're spending about 4X more on recruiting than we did 15 years ago.  We're spending 2X more than we did 7 years ago.

# Players have to survive in a very hard academic environment once enrolled. This has been the case since the Crowton years

# Players are expected to live the Honor Code.  The honor code has always been there.  Players have always been expected to live the honor code.

# Game scheduling The schedule is incrementally more difficult.  In the WAC and MWC conference days, though, we were playing at least 1 and sometimes 2 P5 teams OOC.  Then we had Utah and TCU on the schedule.  They weren't cupcake schedules.  Our schedules are probably more difficult now, but playing hard teams in weeks 2 and 3 doesn't excuse a terrible loss in week 7 against a team that should have no chance of winning against BYU.
