that BYU would always have a harder road to play on than most other schools they'd compete with in a P5 conference due to the honor code and being the "Mormon school" in a world where the top 65 teams make up the P5. But that's the fate they've chosen, I suppose (and does come with a few athletic advantages too, even if they don't outweigh the downsides - from a purely football perspective, of course).
