This is a good point but really ignores the harm and consequences of all of this
That is where the baggage technically is…

At Baylor terrible things happened and harmed peoples lives for ever.

At byu we are taught to live particular standard while also respecting others choice to do the same.

There is zero harm in BYU’s honor code other than the ridiculous ways the OC Office uses too often to enforces the code. Regarding LGBT, no they cannot attend one of very few schools who don’t allow that… their only loss is the inability to be at a school that doesn’t support their way of life… there are endless other opportunities for them to get an education and gain the college experience they want thus zero harm (unless their desired college experience includes sticking their life Style in the faces of those who don’t approve).

If there was somehow harm of a byu grad against someone who is LGBT in the form of discrimination or really anything unkind at all that would not only be against the HC but also the church.

I don’t see someone who is LGBT being any different than someone who smokes or drinks coffee… I don’t agree with any of those but we can absolutely still be friends and treat each other with kindness and respect while allowing one another the freedom to live their life as they choose…

The perceived harm people find in the LGBT difference in the HC is really a straw-man fallacy

Whether it is LGBT or Left vs Right we all should be able to respect each other’s side and come together on things we do have common ground such as work, sports, and other recreation
