Segregation is hardly the only form of racism.

Racist sentiment looked pretty active during the LA riots. Many whites fled to more homogeneously white neighborhoods in the 70's to escape busing as well. California's magnet schools are hardly a solid mix of every color.

There was plenty of racism in California too.
