but then they went and hired the Larry Scott clown show. TBD if they survive this. Maybe they survive, maybe they don’t
The PAC12 should have done multiple things years ago to be relevant today
1) Do whatever was needed to get the PAC12 Network on every cable network in the western world and China
2) Emphasize recruiting
3) Play anyone, any time
4) Given the geography of the PAC12 add an element of circus showmanship and schedule games in Canada, Mexico and China. Having Arizona play UCLA in Beijing over Christmas break would have only helped
5) Create a scheduling agreement with an independent BYU and SDSU. Schedule 3 to 5 games with each and cultivate each school. Doing so solves tons of scheduling issues given the geography of the PAC12 and helps with recruiting. Instead Larry Scott thought that he could destroy both schools.
6) The most controversial: eject WSU and Oregon State from the conference. Both are hopelessly under water financially and reside in too small of a market to effectively recruit and compete . Splitting the financial pie 10 ways instead of 12 ways makes a lot of other problems go away.
