I agree with you entirely. But there is a slight difference

Utah wasn't the same team in September as they were in November and December. Sports will always put heavier emphasis on post-season performance.

For Utah, the SDSU game showed about as stark as a contrast as you can see in team leadership — just in one game.

While BYU had a great win against Utah and deserves all the credit for that. Those who do the rankings saw an entirely different Utah team in the postseason.

That's the difference. BYU fans are all alone in their thinking that early losses should've defined the Utah season.

So it's not an argument of Utah vs. BYU fans. It's BYU fans vs. Utah, the coaches poll, the computers, the AP voters, the CFP committee and writers making preseason forecast rankings for next year.
