It looks bad. Put yourself on the outside looking in. It makes it seem that BYU

is kind of a kooky cult that if you're not one of us, we don't want you anymore. At a glance. Of course we don't think it's that way, but perception is reality for many. I don't like the policy.

Let a kid stay if he leaves the church, provided he isn't consciously trying to sway others or denigrate the school in some way.
