Not sure why people think it is a dumb policy...there is a difference of

someone that is a nonmember that agrees to live certain principles versus someone that is excommunicated or disfellowshipped (obviously an HC issue.)

However, disagreeing with the church to such a big degree that you ask to have your named removed from the records...that seems an awful big decision and would seem to be reasonable that it would have an impact on your standing at the church's university.
