Ok let me ask it a little more simply.

Does being raped excuse any sin that you were a part of that put you in that situation?

Or

Does you being a victim of a crime while you are committing another lesser crime excuse you from the consequences of your crime?

I fully agree the HCO botches a lot of stuff especially in this case but I don't see how the results of any action excuse you from consequences of other actions.
