There is a legitimate question here. If I go into an area I know is a high crime area and am robbed and beaten, do I
share any responsibility? It's a sensitive question but valid. Would you warn your children to stay out of certain areas?

If I got into a car with a knowingly drunk driver, would I share any responsibility for an accident that caused me injury?

BYU's feeling is if they promote an honor code and enforce it rigorously, the whole BYU community will be safer because there will be less "thieves" in the area.

I fully feel that the title IX office and the HC office should have a Chinese firewall between it and prohibit information shared to the title IX office from any other administrative offices unless requested by the student (IE reporting to the police)

My personal opinion is that non criminal moral issues should be handled by assigned ecclesiastical leaders. Non members would be assigned to Bishops to work through issues rather than their own ecclesiastical leaders because expectations may be different.

I also feel that if something is confessed to a Bishop and the student is repentant and is committed to a temple standard then they should be able to continue at BYU. I would feel comfortable in saying that for members of the church, a valid temple recommend (renewed annually) would be the requirement to attend. Period. If a recommend expires (or is pulled) during the semester, the student cannot enroll into the next term of classes but can finish out the classes they have.
