Put the shoe on the other foot...
...I don't think it would bother most BYU fans if it wasn't a case where a former BYU all-time great who was the son of a former BYU assistant coach who had other sons who were prime time contributors to the success of their respective teams didn't take the HC job at a rival school and then (not primarily but frequently) targets former BYU players to populate his coaching staff.

Let's turn this around and say that a player like Kurt Gunther, Brian Johnson or Eric Weddle was offered the BYU HC job and accepted it and then set out to recruit former Ute teammates and ex-players to be on his coaching staff and then he started a habit of watching for players to be offered and even commit to his old school before then swooping in afterwards and attempting to talk smack and potentially give misleading info about his old school with an air of someone who "knows" why their alma mater is bad because they went there.

I'm not saying for certain that Kyle does give misleading info or attempts to influence kids by talking smack about his old school and using the angle that he's a former player who is in the "know" but there is the possibility that some of that does go on.

Now there's nothing illegal but it's just on the slimy side and speaks to the side of Kyle that did the onside kick against Wyoming after his team was leading late in the 4th quarter by 40+ points just to rub it in the opposing coaches face.

Many utah fans would feel the same about BJ/Gunther/Weddle in this instance as Y fans do about Kyle. Until it happens to you guys you can't fully understand where this sits with you. Disloyalty on that level just doesn't sit well with Americans. Kids grow up learning about Benedict Arnold and develop and instinctive dislike for traitors. They are among the lowest forms of life.

For your sake I hope you never have a favored and great former Ute player become the ultimate traitor in the manner that Kyle has. It's a bitter pill to swallow. Kyle's brother Fred Jr is one of my all-time favorite Cougars and starred for the team when I went to BYU. Its hard to now see him turning traitor and turning his back on his alma mater.
