RE: Vince Biegel, Butch Pau'uu, Quezada....
That's an interesting observation. If you look at the research I posted above, this year there are 15 players both schools have offered and 8 of them are out of state.
Two are JC guys (Combs and Peko) and I tend to discount them because they get offers from all over the country, and typically get offers later as teams figure out what short-term needs are.
Pagano has been offerd by approximately 60 schools, so I will discount him as a nationally known quantity
Tevi is from Texas and Utah had previously offered another guy on his team (Leveni) and took a kid from his school last year (Lutui) so I would have to imagine that Utah was already scounting him, even though BYU appears to have offerd first.
Tanoai is related to Kilani Sitake, so there's a family connection.
Peoples most likely wasn't on Utah's radar, but they offered after his performane at the Elite Camp.
Ortiz is one of about 10 California RB's offered by Utah.
That leaves Flowers, who we all know was offered by Utah after BYU had already made a serious connection with the kid. Saw a recent Rivals article where he says BYU is in his final 3.
I am unaware of the situation with Biegel, but I know Utah offered Pau'uu after BYU. I beleive that are wrong about Quezada. My understanding is that Utah offered him first, but none of the recruiting sites provide dates that platers were offered.
