My viewpoint is that the Church will not likely use "church funds" to finance BYU sports. In fact, they will do all
the can to ensure the there is not even the appearance of overspending.
All you have to do is check the message boards (including this one) of all the complainers and anti's that continually criticize the church for its business investments and other spending rather than spending more on humanitarian services etc. Putting money into BYU sports would cause alot of angst including with our red clad brethren up north.
