yes and it was 2 seasons ago and we have done better and there is plenty...
...to see that indicates we will continue to do better yet. How much better remains still to be seen. Typically speaking a person isn't as good as their best game or as bad as their worst. I had a rec league basketball game once where I shot 10-13 from 3 and finished with 52 pts and a church league game as a youth where I scored 42 pts and nearly outscored the other team (they finished with 44 pts). Those 2 great games weren't the norm any more than any one or two crappy games were that i might have had (gee I can't seem to remember any of those!). My true measure as a player falls inbetween and cherry picking the games I want to remember would only be fooling myself and lying to others.

yes, Kalani had a terrible season, one of the worst in BYU history (I don't know details of bad teams during the leather helmet days). It's now in the past and you're one of the few people still talking about it. We're clearly not at that level anymore and he has made significant changes to elevate the program since then. That is the mark of a good leader, when faced with adversity how does he respond? Does he freeze like a deer in headlights and keep doing what he's been doing hoping to get a different result, does he panic and make frantic changes that have no rhyme or reason or does he have the vision and courage to effect necessary changes that are calculated and well thought out even if it's painful?

Firing Detmer was a painful thing to do but I credit KS for doing what needed to be done to move the program forward. Our offensive coaching staff is light years better now than it was in that disastrous season and as a result we're seeing significantly better results on the field. Much of this is riding on the shoulders of a QB entering his sophomore season and there's good reason to be optimistic that as he grows and progresses BYU's offense will grow and progress and elevate with him.

Rick Warren (author) said "we are products of our past but we don't have to be prisoners of it." Unless you choose to be.
