I'll add to that BYU should've been a nearly undefeated team in 2016 if not for
the Detmer hire. The offensive strategy was a travesty. JW carried the offense all season because Detmer insisted on making TH a passer first. Every time we went to read option the game opened up, but Detmer insisted on running pro style, which was never going to work.
2016 should have been special, giving Sitake a whole lot of credibility with the fanbase. 2017 may have happened anyway because, I agree, there was a big talent drop off. But we missed the boat year one and I blame Holmoe for that horrible hire.
