The miscalculation was the strength of MWC with BSU.
The WAC with BSU and a scheduling agreement with BYU seems like a clear improvment over MWC without Utah, TCU, and BYU.
But BSU was (still might be) the big fish in the small ponds of MWC and WAC. Take BSU out of the WAC, put them in MWC with SDSU, and that seems clearly better than what is left of WAC. Fresno and Nevada can see that, move and the MWC vs. WAC debate is completely over. MWC in a landslide.
