The Mtn. existed/survived only because of BYU and Utah. Most of the advertising on the Mtn was from Utah companies and the BYU and Utah games gave them their best ratings. Once BYU and Utah left, the Mtn lost a big chunk of their income, it wasn't sustainable anymore. Without the Mtn, Comcast decided they wanted to bail out of their portion of the MWC deal, so CBS had no choice but to renegotiate the contract.
