In the decade prior to 2017, BYU defeated 49% of its P5 opponents.

Not a particularly glorious number, but some seem to think that BYU has no business being on the field with P5 teams.  There is a reason BYU has been treated by other conferences as a P5 opponent for scheduling purposes.  They've been playing like a mediocre P5 program.

2017 was a historically bad season, but should we allow us to define who we can be?  After playing like a P5 team (if a mediocre one) for the past 10 years, should one season send us scurrying back to lesser competition so we can pad our win totals so we can feel better about defeatism?
