BYU's pride won't prevent a move to a G5. Too much has changed to say it's a step back, especially if we're talking AAC not MWC. A move to AAC is easily explainable given the "changing landscape" (I can almost hear Holmoe saying it). And our goals aren't just to make money and be on TV. Maybe there's more to what Jarom meant than you included in your paraphrase, and yes, exposure is big, but no one cares long term about exposure if you have a losing program. The goal is to win and to showcase the church and BYU as accomplishing good things the right way in arenas outside of religion that will reflect well on the religion. We don't do that if we stink. Unfortunately we do do that if we have OK seasons without championships, but I believe ultimately BYU will figure out we don't look good if we aren't exceptional. Now, the ESPN deal, already-scheduled P5s and all sports other than football do make joining a league more complicated, but it's not pride or thinking exposure is our sole goal that'd keep BYU from going G5.
