Travel would be brutal. They'd need at least a group of four teams
BYU, Boise, SDSU & ??? (CSU, Fresno, UNLV, AFA, UNM). If Independence has proven one thing, its that traveling all over the country isn't a good way to avoid upsets. BYU would need at least a couple of conference games in the Mountain/Pacific time zones to balance things out. Otherwise they'd be putting themselves at a huge disadvantage.

How often is a G5 one of the 8 best teams in the country? It doesn’t make sense unless they go 12 or 16
