By the time I got to the middle of the series, I was so invested in the world

and in the characters, that I wasn't in any rush to see the story end. I enjoyed all of Jordan's books. That said, when Sanderson took over, I found the change of pace in book 12 welcome. Sanderson definitely started driving the story toward a conclusion.
