I agree MBotF is a slog
I am on MBotF book 4 and struggling to keep interest in the series. It definitely has an intricate universe. Also re-reading (I actually listen to audibooks) Stormlight Archive books in between MBotF books to decompress a bit and get ready for Rhythm of War's release. It has been interesting to see the two styles as I switch off.
Does MBotF get better, more character development and more connection between the series main characters and plot lines? Some have said it gets better at book 5?

Stick with it! The first part of the Way of Kings was hard for me to get into. The start fakes you out about 3 times
