Even when Shallon's story was very creative and intense, I speed read through because it just didn't do it for me.
Kaladin on the other hand was one of the best characters I've ever read. His arch was absolutely phenomenal.
I'll admit, I've never identified strongly with female protagonists. I don't connect. I want to viscerally feel the toil of the hero and it's artificial if it's a she.
But Kaladin and Dalinar were both excellent characters. Full of flaws and heroism.
After the first part of WoK there are few slow parts. (Except the interludes. I think those were something of an homage to Tolkien who still reigns supreme)
