Most people use healthcare at the end of their life.
The vast majority of healthcare costs come from people within five years of their death at the end of their life. You pay a ton when you are younger so as to milk the system when you are older. The costs for ED visits are there to offset this cost. Those who pay, also pay for those who don’t.

That's crazy. I took my son to the ER a couple weeks ago because I was worried about appendicitis and our overall charge
