You picked the most expensive hospital in the country so there's that.
University hospitals are the worst at overcharging for everything. Check your itemized bill to see what they charged. These hospitals, unlike private hospitals or clinics, are unlikely to negotiate prices or payments. Your best bet is to say they didn't really do what they said or you didn't consent to some of the treatment/tests. The universities are ruthless though, they'll send you to collections for a nickel.
