We waited until our kids were freshman to get them a phone.
Here is what I have learned
1. Every kid is different. Some are more responsible and self accountable and others are not.
2. If you aren’t having battles with your kids over what they are accessing then they are accessing it and you have fallen into the trap of “all is well”. When my 17 year old stops asking to go look at his social media for a few days I know that he is accessing it at school or other places.
3. If you think that your tools to block what they are accessing is working, you are wrong and naive. You have a group of programmers competing against 100s of millions of kids trying to break their system. #s win every time.
