I think it's different for boys in general. It's probably a lot easier.
I'm sure this will sound sexist, but I think girls fight a bit nastier.
I learned how to take a punch and gained confidence as I saw over and over again that the bullies would back down fast as soon as I landed a punch or fought back. By the time I was in 5th grade, it was mostly only new kids in class who ever picked a fight with me
By the time I was in junior high and fights got more dangerous, I was lucky enough to not have any trouble anymore.
But some of the kids who picked fights with me in elementary school became my friends soon afterward. We put it behind us like it was nothing.
I think girls are more likely to decide to be enemies forever.
