Think about what just happened. You sought advice and the majority of people recommended an alternative course. But a
minority of people, in secret, gave you the validation you were seeking for your overreaction (you won’t like me calling it that that but that is what it is).
Then you ignored alternative opinions (which were the majority) and even asked that they stop posting.
