In the short term it is appropriate to talk to school officials, including the
principal. Long term, it's also worth helping your daughter build confidence and stand up for herself. I was amazed to watch my daughter grow in confidence when she started karate. I still would not have considered her capable of physically defending herself in most situations, but the right stature and response can go a long way to making bullies leave kids alone. It doesn't have to be martial arts (although that is directly applicable), but growing in confidence can help discourage the bullying. It's tough at that age.
