The Delladova dagger is seared into my memory
I was so elated we were going to win and then gutted when that shot went in. No other play has made such an impression before or since. If we happen to meet in some future post season it will be my first thought. As a bad flashback of course.

As far as the refs... I think there is a element of persecution complex due to the religious affiliation with our school. Personally I have felt ridiculed due to my beliefs. So with that in mind the concern from my perspective is sometimes... Does this or that ref have some sort of religious beef??? I don't know if you can empathize with that view point, but it could be an element. I denounce any throwing of things or personal attacks towards refs. I've never known a single refs name - but others do their research I'm sure... that's just not me. I don't think anyone should hurl insults or objects at the refs. I would think BYU is surely not an abject outlyer in instance of this happening though. Feel free to post some stats to the contrary.

One other note about reactions to plays... I really don't see much difference between how I've behaved versus the standard fan of a generic team. I'd be surprised if there's some actual documented difference here. Sometimes you boo since it was a bad call. And with a fervent boo you are hoping to remind the officials to be balanced of course.

Other times though you see a foul that's more gray or even an obvious call. And there may be multiple reasons for a boo to be shouted. For instance as already mentioned if the officiating hasn't been balanced you might boo due to the inconsistency you've noted.

At other times you might boo purely for comedic effect. Like "Hey! You're wrong there ref!" even though the call was extremely obvious. It's funny, you know, sort of humorous to rub shoulders with the family or friends you came along with and chuckle about such things. To the untrained eye or over the television it might be difficult to get that vibe. I don't know if we should or even how to break up that tradition I feel like I've experienced. I mean I suppose it may appear like low basketball IQ to the opponent, but hey got to get your kicks somewhere I guess.

I can think of one other boo type. That of the obscure decade old rule no one's heard of being pulled out. Even though I know it's probably legitimate - it gives occasion to think "Did you just make that up"? Haha

Anyway spurned by the dagger I've always felt a healthy rivalry feeling toward SMC. Good luck always for whatever lies ahead for you.
