At the same time, Bennett did give me a bad impression. I’m not sure what it was, but I did think he said something rude about us. Or maybe I’ve just imagined it. But the fans of ST Mary’s and the broader WCC were and are great for the most part.

While I don’t see BYU as an elite team or feel entitled to much of anything, I will admit to having somewhat underestimated how deep the WCC is year in and year out in basketball. i had hoped that we’d be able to give Gonzaga more of a run for dominance, but the truth is that we were at best 3rd best in the WCC, squarely behind both Zags and SMC. But it wasn’t just you two. I have newfound respect all of the programs in the WCC and absolutely will pull for each of you, particularly in March for years to come.
