Let's do some simple math
SMC living alumni 50k
BYU living alumni 450k
That means you are 9-10 times more likely to run into a toxic BYU fan than a toxic SMC fan. So the perception can happen that BYU fans are toxic only because there are more BYU fans in total even if it is only a small percentage of the total fan base is toxic. If 10% of BYU alumni are toxic, it equals SMC's entire living alumni population 🙂
